2016 BMW 7 Series - The Future of Luxury is Here Today
As the flagship of the BMW fleet, the 7 Series is not only a world-class luxury car with a sporting personality, but also the company's 'technology laboratory on wheels.' And the all-new 7 Series - now on sale at Braman BMW West Palm Beach and Braman BMW Jupiter - is such a huge leap forward that it's already been nominated for 2016 North American Car of the Year.
First introduced in 1977, the 7 Series has evolved through six generations and fans of the fifth generation will find the appearance of the new model slightly sharper and slimmer, but still comfortingly familiar.
Giving the new 7 Series it's 'WOW' factor are dazzling advances in comfort and technology such as "Gesture Control' that allows you to operate on-board systems with a wave of your hand, private jet-style 'Rear Executive Lounge Seating', air conditioning with a perfume ionizer and a 'Panoramic Sky Lounge LED Roof' that lights up to look like a starry sky. Even the ignition key is more like a cell phone, with state-of-the-art remote control and an LDC touch screen
2016 BMW 7 Series Models and Engine Choices
Only one model, the long-wheelbase version, will be offered, in two versions - the turbocharged, 320 horsepower six-cylinder 740i with rear-wheel drive and an all-wheel drive 750i powered by a 445 horsepower, twin-turbocharged V-8. Both are equipped with an 8-speed automatic transmission. Performance credentials include 0 to 60mph in 5.4 seconds for the 740i and 4.3 seconds for the 750i.
An all-wheel drive version of the 740i and rear-drive version of the 750i will arrive later in 2016, as will a plug-in hybrid version called the 740e xDrive. The hybrid will combine a 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder gasoline engine, a lithium-ion battery located under the rear seat, an electric motor, and an eight-speed automatic. 2016 BMW 7 Series Features Improved Handling, More Comfortable Ride
Air suspension is now a standard feature, along with computer-controlled shock absorbers. Options include four-wheel steering for enhanced maneuverability and a new system called 'Road Preview' that uses cameras to scan the road ahead and adjust the suspension accordingly.
This sophisticated suspension, coupled with a weight loss of 150 pounds and a stiffer chassis that blends high-strength steel, aluminum and carbon fiber, results in both a more luxurious ride and a more lively personality on the road
New Technology Transforms the 2016 BMW 7 Series
The technology of the new BMW 7 Series is nothing short of dazzling. All-new technology includes the 'Gesture Control' feature that allows you to turn the volume of the audio system up or down, change stations and answer a phone call simply by making gestures with your hand. And the new BMW Display Key is a state-of-the-art remote control with an LCD touch screen that provides fuel status, estimated range, and even when your next service is due.
While the iDrive system is familiar, it now incorporates touch screen capability that can also be accessed by rear seat passengers via the built-in, removable Touch Command Tablet in the center armrest. In addition to controlling the climate, seat position and infotainment system (with dual screens in the rear headrests), the Tablet can also surf the internet.
With both convenience and safety in mind, the new 7 Series includes a parking assist system that works in both straight-ahead and parallel parking spaces, a 'traffic jam assistant' that includes both adaptive cruise control and automated steering and a side collision protection system that keeps you from changing lanes when another car is next to you.
Executive Seating for Rear-Seat Passengers
Riding in the back of the new BMW 7 Series will be a much more luxurious experience with a Luxury Rear Seating package that includes rear seats with massage and ventilation, heated door and center armrests, and the Touch Command Tablet. The optional Rear Executive Lounge Seating package also includes a center console with a fold-out table, a reclining rear seat, flip-down footrest and an automatic perfume ionizer. Panoramic Sky Lounge LED Roof Lets You See Stars
Perhaps the ultimate luxury is being able to drive a world-class car under a clear, starry sky at night - and the 7 Series' optional Panoramic Sky Lounge LED Roof lets you do that, no matter what the weather is with 15,000 etchings in the glass catch the light and gleam like stars. And six different light setting let you create an environment to suit your mood.
